This week starts off with the heartbeat of the young audiovisual, to gauge it. The 17th ICAIC Young Film Festival is about to start with a diverse and attractive program. There’s also more Cinema with the premiere in Cuba of the documentary Olé, Olé, Olé!: A Trip Across Latin America, about the Rolling Stones’ successful tour of Latin America. 17th ICAIC Young Film Festival
The 17th edition of the ICAIC Young Film Festival will take place from next Tuesday April 3 to Sunday April 8 in El Vedado’s Charles Chaplin Movie Theater and in the subvenue of the Fresa y Chocolate Cinematographic Cultural Center. This event is the most representative of young Cuban film, and brings together artists from the island who don’t surpass the age of 35 years to present their projects in the categories of fiction, documentary and animation.
The Festival’s opening will be on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Charles Chaplin Movie Theater. Meanwhile, the inauguration will take place in the evening (8:30 p.m.) in the same place. Carlos Machado Quintela’ recent film Los lobos del este was chosen for the opening, while a selection of shorts will be screened in the evening together with a gala directed by Joseph Ros.
This year the event is presenting as part of its main Contest 29 works in its three categories: 14 in Fiction, 12 in Documentary and three in Animation. These were the works chosen from a total of 91 entries, and 28 filmmakers from nine of the country’s provinces will participate.
The Rolling Stones return to Havana
The documentary Olé, Olé, Olé!: A Trip Across Latin America, about The Rolling Stones’ successful tour of Latin America, will be presented this Sunday April 1 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the 23 y 12 Movie Theater. The presentation also features a photographic exhibition, open to the public in the mentioned theater’s gallery. The 15 photos on display were taken during the band’s performance in Havana, where they made history performing for a public of more than a million persons.
The film contains the group’s well-known pieces like “Sympathy for the Devil,” “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Honky Tonk Women” and “Paint It Black,” among others, filmed during their live performances. The Rolling Stones’ tour of Latin America began in Chile, on the first week of February 2016, continued to Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, and concluded in Cuba in late March of the same year. The tickets to see this documentary can be bought that day at the theater’s box office.
Four artists, one generation
Four Artists One Generation, is an exhibit made up by four individual art exhibitions being presented today at 6 p.m. in the Kendall Art Center (12063 SW 131 Ave, Miami 33186). The expos are the following: Full of Pollen by Maikel Domínguez, Pilgrim’s Axioms by Yourden Ricardo, American Rural Idylls by Miguel Saludes, and Echoes of Silence by Alvaro Labañino.
The exhibition examines the work of four young local artists who use a traditional means to surprisingly express themselves. In the era of the multimedia and conceptual art, the use of brushes and easel is a radical step, but when it is achieved with high aesthetic values it is reason for recognition.
In Villa Manuela
Todo lo sólido se desvanece en el aire is the title of Iván Perera’s expo which will be inaugurated next Thursday April 5 at 6 p.m. in the Villa Manuela Gallery (406 H Street, between 17 and 19, Vedado).

Two Cubans in Berlin
The exhibition Primavera cubana en Berlín brings works by two young Cuban artists to Germany’s capital: Kelvin López and Ketty Rodríguez. The expo, recently inaugurated yesterday Thursday, will be in the Art Center Berlin Gallery (Georgenstrasse 44, 10117 Berlin) until April 15, 2018, every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Buena Fe Concerts
The Buena Fe duo will give three concerts together with PMM this weekend in the Karl Marx Theater (Friday and Saturday 9 p.m., Sunday 5 p.m.).
To stir up La Marca
Today Friday March 30, at 8:30 p.m., La Marca’s AMuletaMúsica space will feature Migue de la Rosa and Yaima Orozco in concert. On this occasion, the Villa Clara duet will be presenting pieces that form part of their album Para revolver. La Marca is closing with an acoustic prop the cycle of activities for the celebration of its 3rd anniversary, which under the title “Respeto Pá Los Mayores” venerates in the person of Julián González the tattoo artists who have preceded this studio’s artists of the legendary body art. The concert is taking place on 108C Obrapía Street between Oficios and Mercaderes, Old Havana.
