The popular Cuban singer Carlos Varela will offer two concerts in the second week of January to mark his 30 years of artistic life and he will have important national and foreign guests.
For these celebrations, to be held at the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater of Cuba, the artist will be accompanied by American musician Jackson Browne, Brazilian Ivan Lins, the renowned Nicaraguan salsa singer Luis Enrique and Puerto Rican Eduardo Jose Cabra, the Visitante of Calle 13, says Varela´s official website.
The creator of songs such as Monedas al aire and Guillermo Tell, will play anthological hits of his repertoire and his latest musical productions. The concerts will also be attended by Cuban artists whose names will be announced later, the source said.
Varela, very popular in Cuba, will be accompanied in those concerts by his band, a chamber orchestra and instrumentalists with outstanding careers in Cuban music scene.
Both presentations will be filmed to be included in a commemorative DVD for the celebration and a special program to be broadcasted on national television.
The musical career of Carlos Varela (Havana, 1963) includes some ten albums and presentations at major sceneries all around the world.
Varela is considered one of the leading exponents of the very new trova, he is the creator of a number of songs that have been versioned in countless occasions, and used in movies soundtracks, short films and television programs.
