In a day in which the “indicators are not good,” according to Dr. Francisco Durán, 83 has been the number of new COVID-19 patients in Cuba. It is the second highest number of cases for one day, only surpassed on August 11, when 93 contagions were reported.
All those diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus the previous day are Cuban; 51 had some contact with confirmed cases and in 17 individuals the source of infection is not specified; 15 acquired the new coronavirus abroad; 46 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis.

The affected regions were Havana, with 62 cases, followed by Villa Clara with five; Artemisa, four; Pinar del Río and Santiago de Cuba, three each; Holguín, two; Mayabeque, Las Tunas, Granma and Guantánamo, one each.
By age group, the ones with the highest number of contagions are between 21 and 40 years old, with 30 cases, and between 41 and 60, with 28; 12 people over 60 and four under 20 also tested positive for the virus.
Active cases totaled 581, hospitalizations exceeded 1,300 and 31 patients were discharged.
Yesterday 5,116 tests were carried out in Cuba in search of the new coronavirus.
