The week closes for Cuba with one death from COVID-19 and 20 new infections, all from Havana, according to today’s report by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) authorities.
The most recent victim of the new coronavirus was a 77-year-old woman living in El Cotorro; a “wandering person,” said Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of epidemiology, who highlighted the severe malnutrition of someone who had been hospitalized for 17 days and whose evolution and history are reflected in today’s report .
With this death, Havana accumulates 1,009 patients with the SARS-CoV-2 virus; meanwhile, on the island the figure rises to 2,025 patients, of which 225 have been minors.
In fact, out of the 20 infections identified in the last 24 hours, one corresponds to an 8-year-old minor residing in Arroyo Naranjo municipality.
On the other hand, the incidence of sick women was higher this time, with 17 cases. Of the 20, 16 were asymptomatic.
The most affected age groups were between 40 and 60 years, with 12 cases, followed by those under 40, with 6.
At midnight yesterday, May 29, 448 patients were hospitalized for epidemiological clinical surveillance and 1,617 were under primary healthcare surveillance in their homes.
The country has processed a total of 103,123 tests, of which 2,025 have been positive. The death toll is 83.
