Cuba confirmed two deaths from the coronavirus and 62 new cases, according to the usual report by Dr. Francisco Durán, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).
The deceased are from the provinces of Ciego de Ávila and Havana. They are a 53-year-old woman with a history of high blood pressure and obesity, and a 75-year-old man from the Habana del Este municipality with previous conditions of hypertension, diabetes mellitus and cerebrovascular disease.
The specialist indicated that the new reported cases belong to the provinces of Mayabeque, Havana, Matanzas, Sancti Spíritus and Ciego de Ávila.
Havana and Ciego de Ávila remain the main sources of coronavirus after the outbreak of the disease. In both provinces, health authorities are working hard to control transmission, the specialist said.
He pointed out that 8,291 people are hospitalized in institutions, of them 6,322 under surveillance, 1,411 suspects and 558 confirmed cases. Of the new cases, 58 are Cubans and 4 are foreigners residing in Cuba. 3 patients are reported in critical condition, 5 in serious condition and 4,732 patients have been discharged.
In the report, 8 pediatric patients affected by the virus were diagnosed and there were 74 discharges yesterday, in which 1,744 samples were studied. Cuba has processed a total of 84,894 tests. Of these, 5,412 have been positive, according to MINSAP.
