The 6th edition of the Industry Sector, within the framework of the 35th New Latin American Cinema International Festival, will be attended by several U.S. professionals including Bonnie Voland, IM GLOBAL Marketing and International Advertising Director, producer Mike Ryan, nominee to the Independent Spirit Award for “Producer of the Year” and Robert Kraft, musical composer and record producer, Fox Music Inc. CEO between 1994 and October 2012.

The Festival Industry Sector section, aimed at contributing to the update , training, exchange and discussion among filmmakers, has this year special guests who will offer lectures and master classes. There are guests from South America, Europe and the United States.

In the activities program released by the organizers of the film festival excel several names of professional filmmakers, producers and film distributers. The burden of new technologies in animation and audiovisual production stands out at the event.

The experiences of Americans Bonnie Voland and Mike Ryan will be exhibited at the conference: ” A guide to film marketing and publicity” and “Contemporary Independent Cinema: Changes and Challenges.”

IM GLOBAL, to which Bonnie Voland belongs to, is an American company for financing, sales and movie distribution based in Los Angeles, in its catalog appear Before midnight (Richard Linklater, 2013) and The Butler (Lee Daniels, 2013).

Besides the aforementioned nomination, Mike Ryan is one of the “10 Producers to follow” of Variety in 2007. Among his films are Junebug (Phil Morrison, 2005), Palindromes (Todd Solondz, 2004) Life during Wartime (Todd Solondz, 2009), among others with which he has received nominations and prizes from Hollywood Academy and Independent Spirit Awards.

Two master classes will be given by Bill Horberg, (” Memorias del desarrollo. De la idea a la pantalla, el proceso de desarrollo en Hollywood”) and Suzan Pitt will speak about her work as animator and painter, designs that are characteristically surreal, experimental and psychological.

The workshop “Music at the Movies: Process and Techniques” will be headed by Robert Kraft, who as it was already said, worked for Fox Music Inc. from 1994 to 2012. During this period he was in charge of recording the soundtrack for films like Titanic, Moulin Rouge, Slumdog Millionaire and Black Swam among many others.

Four very attractive proposals come from Latin America, specifically from Argentina, Venezuela and Mexico. “Del paradigma clásico al alternativo poético” is the conference that has prepared Argentine Graciela Maglie, sociologist and scriptwriter. Currently she is president of the Argentores Film Council. She is author or coauthor of numerous books on movie and TV series well known in Cuba as ¨Nueve lunas¨, ¨De poeta y de loco¨ and ¨Laura and Zoe¨. Her compatriot Santiago Bou will offer a master class on the technique of animation stop motion, while Leandro Mark, a member of Boogieman Media, with “Caidos fuera del mapa”, will also give his vision of the creative study specialized in animation and audiovisual and graph design.

Moreover, the Venezuelan scriptwriter Frank Baiz, who was for seven years writing professor of film script and analysis of the Cinema Department of Venezuela’s Central University Arts School, titles his lecture: “La estructura es un asunto de palabras”.

The conference “Production and postproduction in SCRATCH” by Mexican Daniel de la Vega is one of the most eagerly awaited since he is one of the creators of Scratch and Scratch Lab (Sofia Films / Assimilate Inc. and Gabo Kerlegand, Mexico), digital image processing and postproduction software developer company.

Europe is represented by French Laurent Cantet and British Andrea Arnold, who also come to offer master classes.

Cantet assiduously comes to the annual French film festivals in Cuba. He is a filmmaker, screenwriter and photography director. He received the Palme d’Or at Cannes and the Oscar for best foreign film for Entre les murs (2008). The list of his film also includes Ressources humaines (1999), L’emploi du temps (2001), Vers le sud (2005) and Foxfire (2012). Meanwhile, Andrea Arnold is an actress and director, among her films excel: Wuthering Heights (2011), Fish Tank (2009), Red Road (2006) and Wasp (2003), which won the Oscar for best short film.
