Leoni Torres returns to salsa with a new disc, Salseando, which is currently in production. Thus the Cuban artist returns to his roots in music, since early in his career he was a member of orchestras Maravillas de Florida and La Charanga Habanera, groups that cultivate the genre.
This new album contains ten songs, many versions of his well-known works, as well as salsa hits. In this sense he retakes songs present in his previous productions to offer them with a new sound. Ballads like Ella sabe, Vivir sin ti, Si yo fuese tú, A dónde vas y Si me besa tu boca, are now in salsa version, songs that were very popular among the followers of the young musician.
Though his salsa performances established him in the eyes of dancers as one of the hottest singers in the middle of the first decade of the 2000s this young singer decided to broaden his horizons and pursue pop music, often composing his own songs or making versions of composers like Polito Ibáñez Raúl Torres or Descemer Good.
Many feared that this decision was not the right one because making a successful solo career is a risk that many do not survive, but his two previous albums Bajo la piel del 2007 and Latiendo del 2011, attest to the seriousness with which Leoni Torres took his incursion into the world of pop music, where often easy formulas abound.
Salseando, the musical production Leoni Torres is preparing, goes back into the salsa spectrum he knows so well, but surely the singer looked for contemporary solutions and a new way of interpreting this genre that is so rooted in our country.
