History was repeated once more. The sadness emerged again to the surface of the Cuban soccer. There is no turning back, the national team said goodbye this last Friday to its chance of qualifying for the Brazil 2014World Cup, after losing 0-3 against Honduras in the Pedro Marrero Stadium in Havana.

Cuba suffered its third loss in this knockout stage even a single draw, much less a victory, with zero goals for and five against, a performance quite distant from the real possibilities of the national team.

Honduras was superior throughout the game and created more goal situations, unlike us, that could not score because the men in charge of connecting with the strikers were not on their best day, said Alexander Gonzalez, Cuban coach in a press conference after the game.

The Honduran goals in this match were on the 32, 62 and 93, scored by Jerry Bengston, Victor Bernandez (free kick), and Marvin Chavez, respectively.

The reasons for this new defeat are well known to our local fans, beyond the absences of some key players in this team. In modern football is mandatory, imperative, to have men playing in foreign leagues to raise their experience and increase their arsenal to solve situations that arise through the game, and in Cuba so far we are not following that worldwide trend.

Now Cuba, already eliminated, will face the second half of this qualifying campaign with no craving at all, which begins next Wednesday 12 when Cuba will pay back this visit to Honduras, in a match to be played at the San Pedro Sula Stadium.

"We say goodbye to the qualifiers and will play the matches that are left in preparation for the Caribbean Cup" in which Cuba will participate later this year, said the Cuban coach.

The Cuban soccer will remain being an inert shadow and live at least another four years, with the fact that it has only played once at the top level when it participated in that 1938 World Cup, although at that time attended because it was invited.
