The May Day parade in Cuba is a tradition that won’t disappear easily. For years Cubans have rallied through the main squares of the country on May 1st to mark International Worker’s Day.
Hundreds of thousands of them did so again this Sunday. People started gathering since the early morning in Havana to march through the Revolution Square; others didn’t go to bed the day before.
This year people were summoned to show their support to the results of the recently held congress of the Communist Party of Cuba.
The organizers added another reason to celebrate: Fidel Castro’s 90th birthday in August.
Presiding over the ceremony was President Raul Castro.
